1. How is ECHINILIN superior to other cold treatments?

Other cold products are symptom-maskers, leaving the underlying cause of the symptoms—the viral infection—untreated. In contrast, ECHINILIN works at the therapeutic level by stimulating the immune system to more quickly respond to viral invasions. As a result, ECHINILIN also promotes quicker symptomatic relief caused by viral infections.

ECHINILIN can also be used to help the immune system fight off cold sores, laryngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis and other vial infections, and as supportive therapy for recurrent ear infections in children (otitis media), urinary tract infections, vaginal yeast infections and herpes infections.

2. What makes cichoric acid, alkylamides and polysaccharides such important compounds?

Cichoric acid
is a phenolic compound which has been shown to stimulate phagocytosis (viral cell destruction). Even though there are more than 10 different phenolic compounds in Echinacea, cichoric acid is the only one which is shown to possess immunostimulatory activity.

Laboratory studies have shown that cichoric acid can inhibit entry of viruses into human cells. Since cichoric acid is easily degraded during the extraction process, the level of cichoric acid in a product also serves to indicate the quality of that product.

Alkylamides have been shown to stimulate the immune system in many ways to fight off infections. First, alkylamides stimulate the proliferation of alveolar (airway) macrophages.

These macrophages are important in destroying agents which cause upper respiratory tract infections. Furthermore, the macrophages are stimulated by the alkylamides to be more active. Stimulated macrophages destroy more foreign agents than those that have not been stimulated.

Alkylamides have also been found to stimulate the production of cytokines such as TNF-alpha and IL-1. These cytokines signal other lymphocytes to actively fight off an infection.

Polysaccharides found in Echinacea purpurea include the arabinogalactan type, which has demonstrated a strong immunostimulatory function. These polysaccharides have been shown to enable protection against Candida albicans infections as well as reduce the number of Candida albieans organisms in an infected individual.

Echinacea polysaccharides have also been found to stimulate the immune system by increasing the production of tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-alpha), and IL-6 by macrophages.

3. Is the complete plant extract used in the formulation?

ECHINILIN is a full spectrum fresh herbal extract and utilizes the whole plant—flower, stem and root. The immune stimulating compounds (cichoric acid, polysaccharides, and alkylamides), are first standardized to ensure consistent levels of these key active compounds from batch-to-batch. These standardized active compounds are then re-blended with its whole plant extract using a patented process.

4. I have seen Echinacea products that are green. Why is ECHINILIN brown?

The green colouring indicates that the product was made from dried herb and the green colour is the trapped chlorophyll. Drying the herb can destroy as much as 30% of the active ingredients before processing has even begun.

ECHINILIN's brown colour is your assurance that you are getting high amounts of active ingredients that can only be extracted from fresh Echinacea herb.

5. Is ECHINILIN made from 100% certified organic Echinacea purpurea?

Yes. Organic refers to the conditions under which the plant, in this case Echinacea purpurea, has been grown. It means that the product you are buying was cultivated and harvested without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides that can alter and denature the quality of the plant.

The Echinacea purpurea seeds and plants grown by Inovobiologic Inc. are not hybridized or genetically modified and they are certified organic.

We put great care into the Echinacea used to manufacture
ECHINILIN. From seed-to- shelf, Inovobiologic Inc. controls each stage of the growing and manufacturing process to offer you the most effective, reliable and safe product.

6. Some Echinacea products are standardized for " total phenolic compounds" or "echinacoside". What is different about ECHINILIN?

Just because a product is "standardized" does not mean it is an effective product. In fact, recent studies have found that "phenolic compounds" and "echinacosides" have no effect on immune function.

ECHINILIN
is the only Echinacea product to provide standardized concentrations of the following three scientifically validated immune-active compounds: cichoric acid, polysaccharides, and alkylamides.

7. I've heard that Echinacea angustifolia species is better than Echinacea purpurea species. Is this true?

No. Echinacea purpurea contains higher levels of the three key active compounds, (cichoric acid, polysaccharides, and alkylamides), than either Echinacea angustifolia or Echinacea pallida.

ECHINILIN
is the only standardized product regardless of the Echinacea species used in other products.
