1. When should I use ECHINILIN?
ECHINILIN
is for both the prevention and the relief of colds, flu and
other viral infections. Take it at the first sign of a viral
infection (chills, fever, muscle ache, headache, sore throat,
cough, congestion or cold sore).
2. Can ECHINILIN be used as
a Preventative for colds and flu?
Yes. ECHINILIN
can be used for year-round immune support. It is particularly
effective for those at risk of infection due to age or high
exposure to viral infections, (children, seniors, teachers,
day care staff, nurses, physicians, travelers); for those
with a hectic lifestyle, people coping with stressful events
or just getting over illness.
3. Can
children under 12 use ECHINILIN?
Yes. ECHINILIN
has an excellent safety record for both adults and children.
For children under six years, experts suggest half of the
recommended adult dosage. For children receiving a reduced
dose, or for those who have trouble swallowing capsules, try
ECHINILIN
liquid (tincture) product, or cut the softgel capsule open
and add contents to fruit juice.
4. What if I have allergies?
There were no reports of allergic reactions or anaphylaxis
associated with ECHINILIN
during the clinical trials. However, people who suffer from
atopy, or are allergic to the Asteraceae family of plants,
(ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds and daisies), may be more
likely to experience an allergic reaction to ECHINILIN.
5. Are there any side effects?
In the ECHINILIN
clinical trials there were no significant difference in side
effects between those who took ECHINILIN
and those who did not.
In the ECHINILIN
group, 13 percent reported adverse effects, which included
nausea, slight occasional heartburn and constipation, opposed
to 9 percent of the placebo group, (those not treated with
ECHINILIN),
who reported the same adverse reactions.
Other adverse effects included itching, a burning sensation
and numbness of the tongue, reported by 13 percent of the
ECHINILIN
treatment group, compared to 11 percent of the placebo group.
No participants withdrew because of these events.
6. Can I take ECHINILIN
with other medicines?
There are no reported incidences of drug interactions associated
with ECHINILIN.
If you have any questions regarding specific medications you
may be taking and possible effects they may have, ask your
physician prior to using ECHINILIN.
7. Can I take ECHINILIN
if I am pregnant or nursing?
According to all available research, ECHINILIN
is deemed safe for pregnant or nursing women. Nonetheless,
if you are pregnant or nursing, it is recommended that you
consult your physician. (Your doctor will find the product
monograph helpful which is found on this web site.)
8. I've been diagnosed with an autoimmune
disorder. Can I take ECHINILIN?
Those with autoimmune disorders like tuberculosis, rheumatoid
arthritis, systemic lupus, collagen vascular disease and multiple
sclerosis should be cautious about long term use of ECHINILIN.
Because ECHINILIN
is an immune system enhancer, there is a theoretical concern
that it may increase autoimmune activity and worsen these
conditions. Therefore, if you have an autoimmune disorder,
consult your physician prior to taking ECHINILIN.
9. Can ECHINILIN be used for people with
cancer?
In animal studies, Echinacea extract
has been shown to inhibit the growth of various cancers. A
stimulatory effect on white blood cell count or function for
patients receiving radiation or chemotherapy for cancer has
been noted in preliminary human studies. Nonetheless, if you
have cancer, consult your physician prior to taking ECHINILIN.
10. I am living with HIV/AIDS and have a weak
immune system. Will ECHINILIN work for me?
Individuals with HIV/AIDS should consult with their physician
prior to using ECHINILIN.
There is a theoretical concern that using ECHINILIN
may lead to increased replication of the HIV virus. If you
are HIV positive or are living with AIDS and interested in
taking ECHINILIN,
consult your physician.
11. I am an organ transplant recipient. Can
I use ECHINILIN?
Due to ECHINILIN's
ability to stimulate the immune system, those who have had
organ transplants or individuals taking immunosuppressant
drugs should consult their doctor before using it.
12. What makes my tongue tingle?
It is the alkylamides in ECHINILIN
that make your tongue tingle or give it a numb feeling. This
is most noticable when using the liquid, rather than the softgel
capsules.
